My Story

My name is Chanel Porter and I am an alum of Penn State University. I am a sports anchor/reporter in Columbia, Missouri at ABC 17 News.

I completed my first two years of college at Penn State Fayette as a dual-sport athlete playing both volleyball and softball. I majored in broadcast journalism, specializing in sports broadcasting, and minoring in English. I am from Cumberland, Maryland and have always enjoyed making stories, particularly about sports.

In college, I held a sports production internship at WPSU where I got to work closely with the basketball teams at Penn State. I also have been involved in CommRadio, PSN News, and Penn State Sports Night.

I earned a certificate from the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism and was an anchor and reporter at Penn State's Emmy-winning newscast, the Centre County Report.
