“Killer B” Replacements

Now that we got rid of all the sexist men, and the women that don’t have any clue how many points you get for scoring a touchdown… let’s get down to business on the stars that are no longer in Pittsburgh or nearing the end of their career.
The Steelers have been through a lot in the past few years with off season issue with Brown, Bell, and injuries to Ben, but let’s hope with a few more spots filled we’ll win the division next season.
The “Killer B’s” made our offense unstoppable for their five years together, but we didn’t have the defense to get us to the top. Now, we’re dealing with the opposite.
Our defense was the 5th best in the NFL last season only giving up an average of 109 total rushing yards and 194 passing yards per game. We had 38 total takeaways last season, which was the first in the NFL, but our defense was exhausted come the second half because our offense couldn’t stay on the field.
We filled spots with guys like Juju, Connor, Rudolph, and Duck (we all know how that solution worked out.) These are evidently not guys that are able to play #1 roles in an offense.
Ben is finally throwing again (thank the good lord.) There’s been talk about the Steelers having interest in Brown and Bell coming back, but what about the off field problems they both bring? Let’s move on Pittsburgh. Let’s get some fresh faces in our offense.
We all know we don’t have a pick in the draft until pick 50 (let’s all agree Minkah was worth not having a 1st round). Are the Steelers going to draft a receiver with their first pick?
We have options. We could go small with 5-foot-9 KJ Hamler from Penn State, who is viewed as the ninth best receiver in the draft. Hamler could add more speed to the roster and possibly be a #2 receiver, but I don’t think he could be our #1 guy. With our biggest receiver being Juju at 6-foot-1, we need more options of bigger and physical receivers.
With the 50th pick we could take LSU’s 6-foot-3 Justin Jefferson, which would give us both size and speed. He averaged 15 yards per reception in his past two seasons, but there are concerns of him being slow from the line of scrimmage. Or, we could wait until later rounds and take Minnesota’s 6-foot-2 Tyler Johnson, which would give us the size we need plus a competitor who stand out in contested situations, but he has a lack of explosion and separation quickness. Or, Wisconsin’s 6-foot-1 Quintez Cephus whose play style matches his thick and muscular frame, but lacks the second gear needed in NFL receivers.
There are also free agents to fill these holes. Chris Thompson from the Redskins could help our run game. Tight end Hunter Henry from the Chargers could give us a big option in the passing game.
There has also been talk about getting a quality backup quarterback (which we all know isn’t Mason or Duck). We could sign Marcus Mariota or Case Keenum as a more stable position if something was to happen to Big Ben (knock on wood).
The options for this offseason are wide open. Ladies, what do you think is going to put our offense back on top?
